Company Background of Jess Company

Jess Company is a newly founded, local interior design firm. It offers interior design consultation service for both business and household customers at a premium price. Jess Company does not set the high price for no reason; the designing style of Jess Company is unique and contemporary, which is appealing to a wide range of customers, especially young customers. Therefore, many customers pick Jess Company anyway despite of its high price.

Jessica, the owner and also the chief designer of Jess Company, is a post-80s who just finished her study of interior design in England. Jessica has a strong sense of art and beauty; she won a number of interior design competitions. Comments said that her talent is inborn and she is a rising star in the interior design industry. Her design is unique but never feels too edgy. She is always able to manage the level of uniqueness of her design at the right level; not too low to feel plain, not too high to feel strange. While Jessica is good at designing, she is bad at communicating with people. She has a bad temper that there were a few times she lost it and yelled at the clients in the middle of the meeting. The deals were of course cancelled; but Jessica didn’t seem to feel that it was her fault.

There are only three staffs in Jess Company; they are Jessica herself, Jake, and Jenny. Jake is another designer and Jenny is the administrative staff. Jake’s designing style is different from Jessica’s, which is more down to earth and focus on simplicity and practicality. On one hand, it is good for Jess Company, because more types of customers can be catered in this way; on the other hand, Jessica and Jake often have arguments over the designing style. Jessica starts to wonder whether Jake is the appropriate designer for her Company, but she doesn't want to fire him now; otherwise, that would be the fifth designer she fired in the past six months. Jake and those designers being fired have all told her that they didn’t get what she wants and would like her to give more guideline and direction regarding their designs. But Jessica just doesn't know how to be a good leader to lead and motivate others. Jenny, the administrative staff, is responsible for doing everything other than designing, including accounting, customer service, and marketing. Jenny studied marketing in university, her knowledge of marketing enables her to promote Jess Company in a creative and non-traditional way. That helps Jess Company to build up the brand image and increase the sales. However, Jenny is thinking of leaving Jess Company. The major reason is the high turnover makes her feels insecure.
