Presentation Instructions
Objective
You read about the characteristics of democracy. The most significant challenges to democracy include threats to human rights, an eroded/ weak electoral process, and compromised civil liberties. You will complete a team presentation about challenges to democracy in the United States and propose solutions to address them. The purpose of this presentation is to give you an opportunity to think critically about challenges facing the US democracy. Through this presentation, you will bring to bear your understanding of the characteristics of democracy. You will conduct research on one of the topics listed below and propose solutions to ameliorate those problems to enhance the US democracy. Ultimately, the goal of this presentation is to increase your understanding of a major issue facing the US democratic process. Ideally, by the end of this project, you should become an expert on this topic. Please choose your presentation topic from the list below.
Human Rights

-diminished rights of the formerly incarcerated
Electoral Process

-the lack of American political knowledge and political participation

Structure of Presentation
Your presentation must be divided into six areas. Those areas include:
• Democracy: Use the characteristics of democracy to describe threats posed
• Problem: Use data to describe the major problems which may include structural, legal, economic, social, or political.
• Federal Policies: Describe the seminal/ or most important executive orders, federal legislation, and United States Supreme Court decisions relevant to your topic.
• United States Constitution: Describe relevant articles of the constitution and amendments
• Solutions: Identify solutions to address the problems detailed in your presentation.
• Citation: You must cite all your sources.
