Create a list of 20 interview questions that are designed to enhance confidence and develop self-awareness in a client while providing you with insight into your client's thoughts and perceptions about his or her use of substances. Your questions should include open-ended questions and active-listening statements. Then, interview someone, perhaps a friend or a family member, with your questions.

Write a short, 250-word paragraph that reflects upon the interview. Were you able to listen actively to the person you interviewed? Did your questions obtain the needed information from the other person, or did they put that person on the defensive? Because of this experience, how would you change your questions or your questioning techniques? How would this process help your assessment of the person as you prepare to write the treatment plan?
