Report:
Choose an engineering research journal article, and explain the mathematical model it uses. If you prefer, you could write about a subject e.g. modelling spinal stress (just make sure you provide references for all of the papers you use in your report).
Choice of a suitable article/topic The article/topic should come from peer-reviewed and trustworthy sources. Avoid predatory publishers or journals. An article does not need modelling as its main focus, but it should contain some modelling you can talk about. For example, engineering papers often have an experiment and a model - this is ok as long as you have enough mathematical detail to write about. Provide reference(s) at the end of your report.
Article outline/topic outline Own words summary of what the article (or subject) is about. It should contain information about what the problem is, and why it is important to solve it.
Summary of the mathematics/model Explain the mathematics used. For example, perhaps they are well-known differential equations. This section can include a summary of the equations, and an explanation of the most important parameters. For example, the physical properties of a material, or the angles which determine the shape of a structure could be the key components under investigation.
Explain whether the researchers use software like MATLAB or ANSYS to help them solve the equations numerically.
Explanation of results and concluding remarks Summarise how well the model appeared to work. If a paper does have experimental results, discuss if the model results agreed with the experiment. (It does not matter if there are no experiments.) Explain if the researchers outlined possible errors in their analysis.
