I. Introduction
a. Social media and the New generation
i. Nowadays, it is very difficult to think about life without social media.
ii. Social media is widely used in different fields and it's a very useful way to communicate and spread the news all over the world.
iii. The new generation is using these social media platforms in many different ways.
b. Advanced Thesis- Usage of social media can also have some negative effects, such as over usage of social media and effect in students, the effect on sleep and depression and health care centre.
II. Social media and students
a. Body paragraph 1 - Social media usage in students.
i. Topic sentence - Usage of social media can have negative effects on the students.
1. Formal Research: (Dowell, Burgess and Cavanaugh (2009) claim that most of the students are engaged in the online risky behaviours.
a. Page 213 shows us that most of the students post their pictures publicly on social media and their searches on these media are mostly related to sex topic.
2. Formal research: (Gross, Juvonen & Gable, 2002) tell us about the online predators
a. Students connected to their classmates tend to find more opportunities to connect with other people who they don't know personally.
b. Making new friends online makes it vulnerable for lonely students to get attacked by online predators.
3. Formal research: (Ybarra & Mitchell, 2008) Suggests that online activities lead the students to fall in unwanted sexual activities.
a. Out of 1588 centre school students overviewed as of late on this issue, 15% detailed an undesirable sexual solicitation on the social media.
ii. Conclusion - Examining the data given in the above articles, it is clear that most of the students are affected negatively by the usage of social media.
III. Social media and depression & anxiety

i. Topic sentence - Usage of social media leading to depression and anxiety in the young generation.
1. Formal Research: (Thompson & Lougheed, 2012) suggest the amount of time youngsters spend on their social media.
a. More than half of the time (about 54%) is spent on using social media accounts by the new generation.
b. It covers most of the incoming alerts rather than the other sources of internet.
2. Formal Research: (Van den Bulck, 2003) indicates about the causes of sleep interruptions.
a. About 25% of adolescents face sleep interruption by receiving text messages at night by which they are being attacked by sleep disturbance.
3. Formal research: (Skierkowski and Wood, 2012, Thomée et al., 2010) tells us about anxiety being created by late replies.
a. Youngsters experience extensive nervousness when their access to messaging is restricted and report feeling pushed when they don't answer a text right away.
ii. Conclusion - The provided researches prove that most of the young generation is engaged in using social media at night time which causes depression, sleep deprive and anxiety within them.
IV. Social media and health care

i. Topic sentence - Increase in the use of social media in the health care sectors.

a. One investigation of the Twitter records of US doctors reports that although the clinicians shared restorative data to people in general in a conceivably advantageous way, there were additionally data breaches of protection, privacy and the ethics.

a. The research specifies that our chance of becoming obese is increased by some percentage by increasing social contacts that we are getting involved in.
b. It is not only about social contacts, but it is also the behaviour that leads to obesity.
ii. Conclusion - The above researches indicates about the disadvantages of social media in the healthcare centre.
V. Conclusion
a. Social media and its link with the young generation
i. Social media are now widely used for any purpose; it can be sharing information, creating communication or some other means
ii. However, some consequences of social media do not prove to be beneficial.
b. Subtopics
i. Mostly, social media is used by students. It helps them in doing their studies; however, a lot of students face privacy issues and harassments over the usage of these platforms.
ii. Night-time over-usage of social websites is leading the young generation to deal with sleep disorders, anxiety and depression.
iii. Health care centres face most of the issues in maintaining their privacy over social media.
c. Conclusion
Social media is made for many good purposes, although everything has disadvantages. This research outline represents the negative effects of social media on the new generation.
