The endosomal compartment gets progressively acidified (endosomes less acidic than lysosomes for example). In normal cells, receptor-ligand complexes uptaken by the early endosome will be separated and the receptor will be recycle back to the plasma membrane. What would you predict will happen to the receptor if the pH in the early endosomes was as acidic as in lysosomes.
