The four features of the text that I find most helpful are the introduction and solution videos, the learning goals outlined at the start of each chapter, access to tools such as the financial calculator and excel spreadsheets and the ending summary review of the learning goals. The introduction videos are helpful as they add the linguistic aspect to online learning. It is more than just reading and problem solving and adds the “classroom” to an online course. Studies have shown that adding things like learning goals to the material to be learned enhances a student’s ability to absorb the material and keep focused on the details of the material presented. The access tools are extremely helpful for both the review portions and the skills they teach for real world work experience. Finally the ending summary with review of the learning goals allows students to recognize areas that they may have missed while studying the material, or areas they recognize as needing more attention.
