Research the topics listed below. Using sources other than your book, address the following in your paper:
1. When did the Americans with Disabilities Act become law? Which employers does this act apply to and is there a minimum employee requirement? Does CT have a similar law? If so, what is it? Does it have a minimum employee requirement? If so, what is it? Why do you think some of the anti-discrimination laws we have studied thus far, have minimum employee requirements? Do you agree with minimum employee requirements? (one-page min.)
2. The topic of service animals is very significant. Many of us are familiar with the concept of guide dogs for the visually impaired. But, lately, there has been a discussion about comfort animals AKA emotional support animals. Is an employer required to allow an employee to bring a comfort animal to work under the ADA? If so, what are the requirements? In other words, what type of circumstances would qualify an animal (in most cases, a dog) as a service animal as opposed to a comfort animal? Are "comfort animals" or as they are sometimes referred to as "emotional support animals," covered under the ADA? Should they be? (one-page min.)
