Employees:

You are currently employees at a grocery retailer in the GTA. Your jobs include cashiers, stock attendants and custodians. You work shifts scheduled at various times throughout the day (the store is open from 8:00 am - 11:00 pm) and you earn the provincial minimum wage. A group of employees seeks to convince their coworkers that they would benefit from having a union represent them. Come up with at least three (the more the better) compelling arguments to support your belief that a union would benefit your workplace.

Management:

You are members of the management team of a large grocery retailer in the GTA. You have heard that some of your employees may be interested in seeking union representation. You do not want your store to become unionized. You are aware that it is against the law to intimidate, coerce or punish employees for seeking union representation. However, you are allowed to share your opinion about the possibility of a union in your workplace. You are asked to come up with at least three reasons (the more the better) why a union would not be a good idea in your store.
