This Act was an amendment to the Fair Labor Standards Act. It prohibits the payment of unequal wages for men and women who worked for the same employer in the same establishment for equal work on jobs requiring equal skill, effort, and responsibility and performed under similar working conditions. Simply put, people doing the same work in the same place in the same way had to be paid equally, regardless of gender.
