One recent survey found that employees wanted to engage with senior managers through internal social media: 42 percent, for example, would be willing to talk with line managers or team leaders over Facebook, and 20 percent would be happy to tweet a department head or even the CEO. Twenty percent of managers said that they'd be happy to reciprocate. At the same time, the survey revealed that two-thirds of employees had no involvement in their companies' social media activities, and more than a quarter were not permitted access to their employers' internal communications networks.
