How important do you think motive is in any assault? Motives can generally be divide into three separate categories:

1) emplomnet-related motives;

2) motives personal to the employee and

3) motives neutral to the employee and to his employment.

Then neutral or positial risk doctirne provides protection to the employee who, thorough no fault to his own, sustains an injury even when the employment was not the cause of the attack.

What are the implications of finding different types of motives to corporate and personal liability for an assult at the workplace?
