Growing up, Jun Jie, who was born and raised in an eastern culture was always taught that anger was a very negative emotion that one should never have. His parents and teacher advocated that anger is not only bad for his own health but that it also causes people to act impulsively and harm other people. Conversely, Edward, who was born and raised in a western culture often witnesses his parents getting angry at shopkeepers or waiters just to have their way. He thus grew up believing that anger is a useful tool with which to achieve his goals.

Demonstrate, your understanding of the empirical evidence on anger's functions and evaluate the extent to which Jun Jie and Edward hold accurate views about anger. Describe what differences there may be between people from these 2 cultures, and evaluate how and why people from these 2 cultures might express and regulate anger differently.
