Part 1:
This module "closes the loop" on the four classical management functions. We began earlier discussing one of the methods of "controlling" in an organization, the Balanced Scorecard. There are many methods, but learning the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) helps with understanding of what drives the organization and ultimately the financial results. It helps identify areas for the manager as to what is critical to manage in order to move the financial results. Sometimes the word "controlling" has a negative connotation until we really understand the true meaning and necessity for "controlling."
Your discussion for this week is simply to reflect on the aforementioned. And, in addition to that think of good questions to ask your manager or those questions you should answer in your last paper with respect to "controlling" within the organization your manager interviewee works and their role. Lastly, think of all four classical management functions and relate your own inclination towards interest and/or disinterest with each.
