The outbreak of COVID-19 occurs in the early 2020, and since then, induvial, or perhaps the world was indirectly forced to change the way we communicate or interact with each other. Most interactions were shift to virtual platforms to prevent the usual physical interaction. This shifted of communication platform would changes the social norm as what we usually practice or do would likely change and create new behavior and norms. For example, many people locally and internally were forced to work from home. Unlike pre-pandemic, many people were not allowed and not preferred to work from home. In 2017, there are only a low percentage of staff were working from home as many companies did not trust their employee to be able to work remotely and still able perform in their task. (Lai, 2022) However, the pandemic has successfully removed the bias and prediction of remote working and ever since the pandemic, companies have acknowledged and have gain faith in their staff from working from home. In fact, there were instances where employee was more efficient and productive when they work from home (Lai, 2022). Apart from the usual work from home, the COVID-19 also causes the world to move rapidly into a digital generation whereas education and medication could be obtained through the online platform. With the technology's advancement, changes were needed for companies to recover, adapt, and emerge with the changes (Manyika, 2020).
Beside digitalization, the healthcare expect would be taken into consideration when individual or companies were planning a gathering or meeting. During the COVID-19 pandemic, limitation of group size and enforcement of social distancing were taken into consideration as part of the prevention measure (Ong, 2022). Limitation or implementation of smaller groups would increase individual social awareness of the importance of every pandemic and the prevention measure needed in every different measure. After recovering for the pandemic, gathering may slowly return to normalcy. However, individual and many companies may still choose to continue with the practice to prevent any form of transmission.
In conclusion, I feel that the COVID-19 has forced all individuals and the world to move rapidly into a digital economic whereas expect such as work, education and healthcare could be moved to an online platform, for example zoom meeting. Unlike pre-pandemic, many would not believe or have the trust whereas employee would be able to work remotely and still be efficient. Many employers would assume their employee would require physical supervision to be productive and accomplish their tasks. Hence, I felt that the COVID-19 has unintentionally changes the social norms and the personal perspective of all individuals.
