The task: 

Digital transformation requires change management focusing on both psycho-emotional "hearts and minds" issues, as well as rational, task-oriented "getting the job done" issues. Arguably, the traditional models like Lewin and Kotter etc. lean more towards the former psycho-emotional perspectives; whereas many technology change models, like those stemming from ITIL or project management roots lean much more towards a rational task orientation. The Western digital transformation compass includes elements of both, but is not necessarily comprehensive on either.

Your task is to:

1. Argue whether both perspectives are valid and necessary for digital transformation (all syndicates)

2. Review a broad range of change management models and frameworks, including the traditional ones discussed in this lecture as well as some technology oriented ones not included in the course material. Also use your own experience of organizational change and digital transformation to inform your answer

• Identify all the relevant steps or elements of the psycho-emotional "hearts and minds perspective of change management
• Formulate a framework to address them all systematically and sequence them, for example Lewin "Unfreeze, change, refreeze framework" framework, or Westerman's "frame-focus-mobilie-sustain" framework
• Allocate all of the relevant steps or elements that you have identified into the framework you have formulated or chosen.
