Assignment:

The Grand Budapest Hotel takes place over three different time periods and is told by different narrators. How do different elements of mise-en-scene help communicate what time period we're in?

Some things to consider in your response:

How do the costumes change (or not change) in each time period?
What can you notice about the set decoration in the hotel?
When does the aspect ratio change? Why?
How is color used to communicate the passage of time?
What effect do the different points of view of the narrators have on how you experience the story?

You can include some or all of those suggested points, but you must use two specific examples from the film and two specific concepts that you learned from the textbook and/or lecture.
