Assignment:
Using the medicine circle as your guide, please reflect on your experiences and learning in this course at the end of each module.
The following questions may help you apply the four elements of the medicine circle as a framework for your reflections. With reference to specific details related to the course, how might you have:
- Changed your understanding? Decolonized your thinking? Helped you clarify concepts related to your Essential Question? (Mental)
- Recognized the trauma of cultural genocide and empathized with Indigenous people? Felt empowered by their resistance? (Emotional)
- Become inspired to engage in activities to support decolonization? Felt more connected to Indigenous people in my community? (Physical)
- Related and possibly questioned/re-evaluated your values and beliefs? (Spiritual)
- Contributed to your holistic understanding of colonization and Indigeneity? (the full Medicine Circle)
As you decide what you would like to share with the teaching team, you are encouraged to consider ways of exploring your learning that aren't linear, typically academic, or reflective of colonized ways of knowing. Examples of alternatives may include a blend of written or oral storywork, visual art, song, performance, poetry, photo essays, graphic novel writing, etc.
Your piece should clearly express your experience of cognitive, emotional, physical, spiritual, and holistic learning and communicate your engagement with course materials and activities through references to what and how you're learning.
