  • Do you agree with Hume's view that when it comes to matters of art, there are such things as experts? If so, what sorts of traits should an "expert" have?"

I agree with Hume's view when it comes to arts that we should lead it to the experts. He explains that they must have the traits that consist of: Delicacy of taste, Practice, Comparisons, Absence of prejudice, and good sense. Some of these can be described as "comparisons" is where we compare other works of art similar to the one that is being observed as it might influence whether or not if it's just a ripoff of another piece of work. Practice is also important as having experience in judging artworks is can be very helpful when providing insight.

  • In the Poetics, Aristotle outlines his view of what the ideal plot of a tragedy should be. Briefly summarize this outline. In addition, can you think of an example of a good tragedy that does not follow Aristotle's formula? What is it?

Aristotle describes his outline of what his ideal plot of tragedy should be an imitation of action that must be serious, complete, and of a certain magnitude. Breaking down a tragedy in elements being plot as the most important. If there isn't a plot in a tragedy then it isn't following Aristotle's formula of important elements of a tragedy.
