Summary:

Students will engage in fortnightly journal reflections on various elements and the importance of Lesson Planning. (Weeks 1-5, min. 250 words/reflection)

This assignment consists of two critical, reflective responses to three selected questions. You are provided with three questions, from which you are required to choose any two for the final Turnitin submission. The questions cover weeks 1-5, and reference should be made to session materials and readings in your responses.

Each response should not be longer than 250 words

Please provide the word count at the end of each of the responses

This assignment is not an essay, so there is no need to write an introduction or conclusion to the assignment

You should utilise each of the questions as headings of each of your two responses

Due to the reflective nature of this assignment, it is required that only a minimum of two (2) references be used in this task.

1. Journal Writing 1, Planning and Programming [Question]- Who is it for and what are the influences on my curriculum decisions?

"Curriculum decision making is guided by a combination of principles, practices and outcomes to promote children's learning." (EDUCATORS, Belonging, Being & Becoming, p.10).

As Early Childhood Educators, reflect who are we basing on our lesson plans on? What belief and knowledge do we hold in determining what to teach? Where do they come from? Are there other beliefs and knowledge that would lead us to different decisions?
