Question

An electronic medical records (EMR) would pertain to the patient's medical history while they are at a practice. The electronic health records (EHR) would encompass the patient's health history that can be shared between multiple practices including radiology and laboratory. EHR application is Intergy through Greenway Health. One challenge of this EHR is limited to no technical support with Intergy. With limited availability to reach technical support, it further disrupts workflow. Besides the healthcare professional statement, it also has a lack of technical support for the patient when they are needing to access their portal for the health records. A solution is establishing an IT department that can monitor for multiple encounters and send updates as quickly as possible with the ability to easily contact them for EHR users and patients. Teame et al. (2017) found that utilizing and analyzing incident reports received by healthcare IT provided data to improve accessibility and usability of EHR users. Another challenge is the encounter note navigation and template design which leads to disruption of workflow.
