Shari is a recently hired Mercy Cross nurse who finds herself locked out of the Electronic Health Record systems one day because of too many failed password attempts. Per Mercy Cross IT's guidelines, Shari has a complex password that she occasionally forgets. As it's not convenient to contact IT (Shari works the night shift) and her shift is almost over, Shari asks Cher, a long-term Mercy Cross nurse, if she can use her password to access the system and document the chart of her patient, Mr. Robinson. Cher agrees to this. Shari accidentally documents incorrect information using Cher's password in Mr. Robinson's record.
