Objective:

Designing an Electronic Circuit to switch on/ Off porch light automatically for a certain period of time.

Abstract:

The circuit can be used for controlling the porch light of the house automatically. It uses 14-stage ripple-carry binary counter/divider and oscillator IC4060 along with the Light dependent resistor. It can detect sunlight and can be switched on based on intensity of light. It has provision for Setting the time limit for on interval

Introduction: The light dependent resistor connected to this circuit is acts as a sensing element and IC 4060 is the heart of the circuit. The circuit is connected to the bulb via relay. When the intensity of the light decreases, the light dependent resistor will sense the Light and activate the circuit. The circuit will make the relay to NC which was connected NO making bulb to glow. After three and half hours the circuit will make relay to NO and will switch off the bulb. This system can be also used as security for the residential for houses where people are not staying frequently in the house.
