A charged particle in an electric field "E" is acted upon by a force F = q *E, where "q" is the magnitude of the particle's electric charge. Consider the situation where an electron (electric charge -e ≈ -1.602 · 10^-19 C, mass m_e ≈ 9.109 · 10^-31 kg) enters the electric field from the direction of the negative x-axis at the time t = 0 at the point x = 0 with an initial velocity v0 = (100 m/s)ˆi. The electric field is greater than zero only in the range x > 0. Forces other than those caused by the electric field can be ignored.
