ELEC 30002.1 Telecommunication Engineering - Middle East College
Learning Outcome 1: Differentiate between signaling systems in telecommunications
Learning Outcome 2: Criticize emerging telecommunication technology through a research work.
Assignment Objective
This will enable each student to evaluate, analyze and design Signalling systems in various telecommunication systems and criticize selected technology.
TASK 1
Submit a work proposal for this assignment on or before 28/10/2020 (23:59) which must include: Proposal for Assignment 1 of Module Telecommunication Engineering (ELEC 30002.1) Student Name:
Student ID:
• Understanding of deliverables - a detail description of deliverables for each question. (What are the input data sets and what is to be calculated in case of numerical questions?)
• General overview of proposed plan - initial understanding of solution to task2 (What methodology and references you will use to research and find answer of the theory questions).
• Timeline for completion of the given tasks.
The work proposal must be submitted in a word file through the link available in Moodle.
Task 2
Signaling is the method of exchanging control messages in telecommunication circuits and networks. While discussing the signaling system number 7, provide answer to:
1. Critic signaling system number 7 in comparison with OSI layers.
2. Discuss addressing of the signaling system number 7 messages.
3. For SS7, describe the function of MTP 1, MTP 2 and MTP 3.
4. Analyze performance parameters of signaling system number 7.
Task 3
Fifth Generation (5G) Technology Standard for broadband cellular networks is in deployment phase across the world. While analyzing the 5G answer following:
1. Detail speed and latency performance parameters in 5G as processing will be carried out in cloud.
2. Reflect on the spectrum which is being utilized by 5G deployment.
3. Discuss findings of TRC WRC-2019 Conference.
4. Critic on impact of 5G deployment on current fiber deployment.
