Assignment - Modelling: Production of building drawings

1. AIM OF THE ASSIGNMENT

The aim of this assignment is: to ensure that you understand the concepts of Building Information Modelling and are able to create a 3D model of a building by Autodesk Revit.

2. THE ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

You are required to produce 3D drawings for a house of approximate ground floor area between 80 and 100 square metres (2 story house):

i. Your home/current dwelling OR

ii. A three-bedroom house.

Project (ii) has a greater degree of creativity and offers you the chance of achieving higher grades with a creative design. However, if you are a less confident Revit user, executing Project (i) well should enable you to achieve good grades.

3. UNDERTAKING THE ASSIGNMENT

This assignment will be undertaken individually. Having selected the property to investigate, and create your drawings.

Your design should be original and you need to demonstrate your capability in:-

- Producing external/internal or curtain walls,

- Constructing grids and levels

- Inserting doors and windows

- Space planning including furniture layouts for Kitchen, bath room, and toilet

- Inserting stairs, railings and slabs

- Adding roof(s)

- Adding dimensions

- Providing basic schedules and room data

- Adding annotation

- Producing Sections, elevations and 3D views.

4. THE REPORT

Your assignment should be submitted in the form of:-

1. A USB containing your drawing file(s)

2. Paper printouts (A4 size) showing:-

a. All floor plan view

b. 2 Section and 4 elevation views

c. 3D views: e.g. an isometric view (with the roof layer frozen) to show the interior.

d. All views should be labelled, drawing should be annotated, and have title block.
