An Application On Five-Star Hotel Managers Operating In Turkey
A great deal of attention is being paid to organizational culture, to the ways in which it can be changed so as to bring about improved performance, greater concern with customer satisfaction and with quality. The development of culture is a process natural to and inseparable from the development of communities, in which people come tos hare values and beliefs about their relationships and their obligations to the community.
Organizational culture thus consists of the totality of an organization around one or more focal concerns regarding work and relationships at work. Its structure is prototypical of a societal culture. At the core are the assumptions, beliefs and values regarding work or non-work interests that manifest in individuals and groups behaviour that in turn affect or re affected by organizational systems, procedures and norms and the underlying philosophy, strategy and so on.
The culture of an organization has a tendency to become stable because it, being both an input and an output, tends to be self -perpetuating. The beliefs and attitudes within the organization are drawn initially from its external environment. The beliefs of individuals within the organization determine their behaviour, which acts as a role model for others.
There are assumptions which occurs in the minds of the workers, makes their being a member of the organization meaningful and are accepted without questioning on the basis of Organizational Culture. Organizational Culture expresses the difference of every organization from each other culturally and it is defined as an invisible, internal and informal concious that has sunk into the organization.
Organizational culture has attracted my attention as it is easy measurable, it also includes physchological aspects and I can find many sources on it. Besides, as I am going to be dealing with HR, I think it is a very good application that is going to be very useful for me in the future.
When I examined the studies conducted on Hotel Industry, I came across studies which were applied to the hotel workers and which have just one scale in it. I found the studies applied to the managers insufficient. In some studies applied to the managers, hotel seperation has never been done. When I examined the studies' results, I witnessed some illogical ones. I thought that why they are illogical is because those studies were applied to the managers of 3 or 4-star hotels which are not really instutional. So in my opinion, the managers of 5-star hotels can answer our questions better.
In this study, for organizational culture, the 17-item scale of Richard Pascale's four dimensional organizational culture is used which covers the fourth dimension that is related to the values.
Subject of the study: Examining the effect of Organizational Culture on Organizational Adherence is the subject of the study. For this purpose, it is thought to apply and survey to the managers of 5- Star hotels.
Problem: Do the effects of Organizational Culture on Organizational Adherence exist on hotel managers?
Organizations demand their employees to use their knowlegde and experiences according to the company's targets. Keeping an enough qualified employee in a company for a long time is only possible if that employee feel dependence. The relation between organizational culture and commitment on several sectors was examined in detail in turkey before. But there has been no application of this on hotel managers. This study aims to examine the effect of organizational culture on organizational commitment and to draw attention of related foundations.
Part of the literature focused sufficiently on the importance of the concepts of organizational culture and organizational commitment. To be effective in a wide variety of organizational culture on organizational commitment was obtained from sources that Assemblies. However, the real issue with an application in the light of field data will be extremely fortunate to embody.
Organizational culture and organizational commitment scale, 5 star hotels in turkey, officials named in the application area. Turkey became subject to the nature of organizational culture, organizational commitment and hotel companies selected from the environment is known to be close to family or most of the webmasters. However, 5-star hotel is fully professional and corporate investigations identified in this study are determined to be applicable to 5-star hotels.
Conceived in the 1940s, and since that year acutely increased the importance of tourism accommodation facilities in recent years, especially in the corporate chain hotels to invest more in Turkey have created. In 2012, 9.2% in the number of 5-star hotel with 375 'have reached the figure of 413 in 2013, with an increase of shows that will continue to increase the quality of tourism investments in Turkey.
Organizational commitment Organizational culture is applied in various institutions in Turkey and scales applied in many theses and articles have been found. The hotel staff was reached on the same topic in applied research has been reached. However, managers of the hotel for the first time on this issue will be dealt with in a very attractive and a great need will respond. Professional managers who 413 this year the number of 5-star hotels, and many remarkable presentation of views on the subject will be in place.
5-star hotels to be applied only in terms of sensitivity of the issue of the application of the biggest limitation of the study. I also do not want to review the random selection of the sample to be out of school administrators, elected instead have kept inadequate reserves and re-elections were held. This is necessary as a limitation of this study might include compensation for 200 units. The date of the survey respondent has been a very busy season may be the probability of answering a quick and hasty response should not be overlooked.
