Could someone help me identify the confounding variable(s) in this experiment?

Marg Darnelle wanted to learn about the effects of an apology on people’s tendency to retaliate. She designed an experiment in which the computer “broke” and the experimenter rudely blamed the participant. In half of the conditions, the experimenter apologized for her rudeness while the other half received no apology. To make sure that the apology was consistent across participants, research assistant Michelle ran the apology condition and research assistant Joanne ran the no apology condition. Marg found that people were more likely to give Joanne a low evaluation on a “department evaluation” compared to Michelle. She concluded that apologizing is the best way to prevent retaliation.
