Human Relations BUS D056

Activity One: Time Management

Effective time management can help in achieving our goals and can help us manage stress better but also ensures we can have time to relax!

Consider if you would spend your time wisely. For example, think about how you have spent your time over one full week. Please try to include the weekend.  Write down the amount of time you spend doing the following things on an average week:

  • Human needs activities (sleeping, cooking, and eating)
  • School-related activities
  • Activities geared toward my specific long- and short-term goals
  • Transportation (commuting) activities
  • Continuous learning
  • Facebook, Twitter, other social media, or texting
  • Time-wasting activities
  • Activities for stress management
  1. Make a chart on how you spent your time - the above activities are just some ways you can categorize how you spent time.  Please select categories that are relevant to you. You can also include categories that are not mentioned above - for example - you can have more than one category for internet surfing -(i) productive - educational (ii) productive - communicating with friends and family, (iii) relaxation, (iv) nonproductive and so on.
  2. When you look at how you spent your time, are there any areas where you could manage your time better? Briefly discuss these areas.
  3. Are there any areas you feel like you are spending the perfect amount of time doing? Briefly discuss these areas.
  4. Identify and discuss TWO strategies you need to implement to manage time better.
  5. Submit this activity (include the chart) to Canvas on or before the due date
