Discussion 1.
What photograph is most memorable to you? Is it the content or the visual characteristics that make it stick out in your mind? Upload it, and explain why this photograph is most memorable to you.
Discussion 2.
What is the most effective graphic design you encounter in your daily life? Identify the design(s) you thought were most effective. Discuss how one of these designs in particular was exceptionally persuasive and visually captivating by pointing out specific visual information such as color, type, design, etc. You can also identify unsuccessful designs and describe the ineffective qualities. Be sure to focus on the formal qualities of the design (the color, type, composition, etc) rather than what the product means to you. What makes this design stick with you and why?
Keep in mind, we're looking specifically at graphic design here. Posters, advertisements, signs, newsletters, printed media, etc. are all graphic design examples. A printed tshirt, could work, as long as it has significant graphics. The illustrations of a children's book are just that: illustrations, and not really considered graphic design. A book cover, on the other hand, could be considered graphic design. The design of a product, such as the design of an athletic shoe or phone, is not graphic design.
