Look online for organizations in the community of your choice that would be likely collaborators with your program. (Of course, this is an imaginary exercise, but think realistically about who would make a good collaborator for your organization.) If you are developing a program for older adults in Salem, Oregon, look up organizations in Salem that might refer clients to your program. Include these collaborators in your proposal. You will hire your staff to provide the program you are proposing. Collaborators provide smaller levels of support, such as receiving your referrals, displaying your materials, or helping you recruit volunteers from their organization.

Next, consider what it takes to develop and maintain a successful partnership. Effective communication, shared vision, goals and objectives, collaborative decision-making, and pooled resources are all components of a healthy partnership.
