Communication is an important part of everyday life. Not many individuals would argue with this point. However, when an unethical situation at work surfaces, good communication practices become even more vital. Effective communication, when issues arise, can mitigate damages to the organization. One way to mitigate communication issues is through the development of a communication plan. Communication plans serve many purposes. They can: communicate expectations before a negative situation occurs; address current situations/accusations; and build a picture of the future by laying out guidelines as to how undesirable situations should be addressed. For this discussion, do the following: Select a company that has been in the news recently due to discriminatory workplace behaviors. Explain what occurred in this organization with regard to discriminatory workplace behaviors. Detail the parties involved, settlement information (if applicable), what details of the case were made public, and so on. How could a communication plan have been used to prevent the situation from occurring? Explain what components are necessary in an effective communication plan and why.
