Introduction/Problem Statement
Here, you describe the significance of the practice issue. For example, suppose your topic is "barriers to housing among emancipated foster youth", you will describe how this issue affects this population on a micro, mezzo, or macro level, and why. Consider the possible implications for practice at the level you have specified.
You will also narrow down your issue further and focus on what you are especially interested in looking at.
This will also have your purpose statement.
This is also referred to as a purpose statement or introduction. The paper identifies why this is a problem that needs attention and makes the argument that research is necessary. This is the start of the proposal and should be long. In this paper, students should expand on the ideas presented in assignment 1. At the end of the paper, students must identify their target population, the IV and DV if applicable, and have a draft of the research question/hypothesis.
(please note that this is going to be quantitative research and since this is the intro to a research I don't think I would need any reference)
Things to mention on top of your paper:
Why do you want to conduct your study?
Target population: College Students
Problem/ phenomenon: The effect of social support on college student's mental health
Research question: for this part, I previously mentioned this question How does the presence and quality of social support influence the mental health of
students? But I need to change this question because of professor's feed back below:
(On the RQ, rather than "presence" of social support, which is binary yes/no, I would focus on perceived quality, which is a Likert scale. There are several existing scales that measure this concept. You will want to explore what "mental health" means and how you'd measure that as well)
