Educational Case Study of Anita Morrow
The individuals who are directly involved in this case study are:
Anita is a student in the morning ECS program at Landview Elementary School in Somwehere, Ontario. It is a 500-pupil elementary school (ECS to grade 6). The morning ECS program runs five days per week from 8:30 am to 11:00 am., with all normal school holidays. At this particular time there are 25 children in the morning class - 15 boys and 10 girls. The ECS program utilizes the school gym, art room and computer lab on a weekly schedule and they sometimes use older children as "learning buddies" with the ECS students. The other school staff who may be available in a consultant role are the school district psychologist, learning disabilities specialist and school LPN. However, it is the norm to have assessment requests handled by the local health unit.
Although some initial concerns were expressed at the parent teacher interview in November it was felt that Anita was just experiencing some adjustment problems. However, since Christmas, Mrs. Gregory has become increasingly concerned with Anita's overall lack of progress and inappropriate social interactions with the other children.
