Question

I'm finding that education leads to higher wealth. I've seen it many times where a position is advertised and let's say you have 2 candidates. 1 who has decades in the industry and is very experienced but does not have a Degree. The other is fresh out of college with zero experience in the field. Many of the job postings I see require a 4-year degree so even though person 1, who would probably be better for the job, is automatically disqualified because they are lacking that piece of paper. I'm older and content with my current pay. Completing a 4-year degree is more of a bucket list item at this point, but I would assume higher pay is why many of my fellow students are here. Of course, there are probably a million things that affect wealth inequality in the country, ranging from how well different classes recover from recessions, globalization, skill gaps, laws, etc. Personally, I sought out and found work within a labor union where we have power in numbers. It's so much easier negotiating as a group versus going at it alone.
