Through various courses I have learned about the significance of EBP. EBP helps reduce inefficient practices, reduces unsafe patient care, and improves the quality of care and patient outcomes (NUR 382, 2024a). While EBP has many significant implications, the one that stood out to me the most was improving the quality of care and patient outcomes. How I use this in practice is by being more proactive in using EBP in my care to provide better care to patients. Q2:I use EBP in my practice by assessing a patient's need for mitts as a nonviolent restraint and not using mitts as a means of convenience. Research shows using mitts as a form of nonviolent restraint can have negative impacts on patients' health (Tanaka, 2023). In the ICU, it was common for patients to be in mitts, especially when they were intubated to prevent self-extubation. However, this may have led to a higher utilization of mitts than necessary. It is common to see staff nurses not utilize PPE properly when going into patients' rooms who are on isolation. For many, they have become desensitized to the isolation warnings and find it bothersome to don and doff PPE;
