Part one: Submit your observation and interview notes:
You will visit a local Early Childhood Education program and gather the information below.
1. Name of the Child Care Program
2. Website, contact information, e.g., address, phone number, etc.
3. How many years has the program been in operation?
4. Number of children served and ages.
5. Describe the children's racial, linguistic, and socio-economic background.
6. Adult-child ratio.
7. What type of school is it? (e.g., private, public, nonprofit, family childcare, etc.)
8. What is the program philosophy and/or mission statement?
9. Who are the teachers (education level, racial/cultural background, etc.)?
10. What is the curriculum of this program? (e.g., creative curriculum, play-based, etc.)?
11. Is an assessment used in the program? If so, what kind? (Assessment is a way of measuring children's progress in terms of knowledge and skill-building.)
12. How are the parents involved? How is parent involvement encouraged?
