When a leader assigns tasks to people and he sees certain staff members being very diligent and responsible then he starts to trust those people more with tasks. He fakes a relationship with those people talking with them for extended periods and more often. Think about how that is perceived by that staff member's coworkers. Do they think that it is great that the leader trusts that staff member or do they perceive it as favoritism? Have you ever encountered this phenomenon? If you have, did you also perceive it as favoritism?
