Case: Homas Grimes is Married to Mary Grimes, the two married in 2021. Thomas currently resides in Gary Indiana. According to Thomas, he and his wife live in separate homes. This is due to Thomas learning that his wife Mary, was using drugs during and prior to the birth of their child Thomrya. Thomas reports he had no knowledge of his wife using drugs.
Thomas Grimes is a 60-year-old African-American male. Thomas was born to Thomas and Roberta Grimes. Thomas reported his mother gave birth to 12 children. He was the 11th child born to Roberta and the first to Thomas Grimes SR. His mother Roberta was married three times, marrying Thomas Sr. in the late 50s. Thomas's sibling are as follow; Arline Colman (deceased cause of death cancer). John Faulkner (deceased) , Percy Love (73), Gloria Hopkins (72), Barbara Love (deceased, cause of death stroke), Maryann Adkin (69), Aaron Love (67), Betty-Ann Love(deceased died at birth), Dartich Love (deceased died at the age of 12 gun accident), Jacklyn Love (69), and Kenneth Grimes (59). Thomas reported he had a close relationship with all of his siblings. He reported that his family has always been close and took care of each other. Thomas reported that his relationship with his parents as well. He reported his mother being nurturing and caring yet will discipline him when needed. Thomas reported as a child his mother would spank him whenever he misbehaved. He states he often had got into trouble for fighting in school, to protect his younger brother. He describes his father as a stand-up guy. Thomas stated his father was a gospel singer and worked in construction. Thomas reported his father passed in 2003 due to congestive heart failure. He described his mother as a homemaker and ran a small "soul food business" Thomas reported while his mother worked his older sister Gloria watched over him and his siblings. Thomas reported his mother is 96 years old and the two have a good relationship today. Thomas reported his bringing as good spending a lot of time with his extended family. He described his support system as his mother and daughter Bridget.
Thomas attended Emmerson High School in Gary Indiana. But dropped out at the age of 16 to find employment because his then-girlfriend was pregnant with his child. Thomas has 4 children his two oldest children are Dwayne (deceased died in a car accident in 2019) and Bridget Wimberly (40) and Deante Bryant (30) and Thomyra Grimes (7 weeks). Thomas reports he has a good relationship with all of his children, and described how much he loves them. When asked about his history of trauma, Thomas reported no trauma however he did lose his son and he was spanked by his mother as a child. Thomas did not view being spanked as trauma. He normalized the spanking given that is what his parents did in his day, in fact, according to Thomas, there was a time he was spanked at school by his mother, the principal allowed the spanking to take place as this is something the school legally allowed in the 60s. In addition, Thomas reported a history of smoking marijuana at the age of 21 in 1979 and stopped smoking in 1990. Thomas reported moving to St. Minnesota from 1990, until 2000 to get over a breakup. Thomas is in his second marriage, he started his first marriage ended due to his then-wife abuse of opioid pills. Thomas presently works at the Gary housing authority earning 40,000 per year. His strengths are described as being good with his hands his protective factors are over his children. Thomas describes himself as a good father that will do anything to ensure his kids are happy and safe. Thomas denies any mental health disorder. Thomas reports no physical concerns. Thomas reported to his knowledge his infant daughter Thomyra is doing well since recovering from drug withdrawals. Thomas expresses how he will leave his wife Mary if she does not get clean, at this time Thomas has no desire to be with her. Thomas is a 60 -year-old man who looked his stated age. He was of an average height and build. He was calm and cooperative during the interview. The patient made good eye contact and there was no psychomotor agitation or retardation observed. His speech was fluent, normal in rate and volume, and there was no formal thought disorder. His mood was euthymic, and his affect was within normal limits. He denied both suicidal and homicidal ideation, intent, and plan. He also denied auditory and visual hallucinations.
