QUESTION 1
Read the following paragraph carefully
The Blue Whales just played their first baseball game of the new season; I believe there is much to be excited about. Although they lost, it was against an excellent team that had won the championship last year. The Blue Whales fell behind early but they showed excellent teamwork and came back to tie the game. The team had 15 hits and scored 8 runs. That's excellent! Unfortunately, they had 5 fielding errors, which kept the other team in the lead the entire game. The game ended with the umpire making a bad call, and if the call had gone the other way, the Blue Whales might have actually won the game. It wasn't a victory, but I say the Blue Whales look like they have a shot at the championship, especially if they continue to improve.

The first way is to keep your money in a savings account. Saving accounts generally have a very low interest rate, so there isn't a high return. However, with this method, your money is easily available if you need it. Another way is to buy a certificate of deposit (CD). CDs are purchased and accrue interest for a set period of time. The interest rate is higher than a savings account, but your money is not
available during the set period of time. Next, if you are planning for the long term, you can put your money in an individual retirement account (IRA). These accounts are designed to help people save money for retirement. Money that you put in an IRA is tax deductible and the interest rate is quite high compared to savings accounts and CDs. It's important to know that you will have to pay a penalty if you try to withdraw money from your IRA before you are 59 years old. The final way to save money is to buy some stock in a company. A company's value is divided in pieces, or shares, that anyone can purchase. If the value of the company's stock goes up, you can make a lot of money, but if the value goes down, you lose a lot of money. There can be a lot of risk associated with buying stock.

Language and cultural barriers often force new immigrants to the United States to isolate themselves in their own communities. While these communities provide a sense of comfort and security for the immigrants, they also prevent them from integrating into American society. There are many ways we can help immigrants make the adjustment to their new environment. For example, our educational institutions could offer free or low-cost English classes. Also, schools and libraries could set up language practice programs that pair English speakers with immigrants. Finally, community-based organizations could offer services that help immigrants with daily life, such as work, health care, and housing.
Concluding sentence:.............................................................................................................................
Paragraph 5
Recycling is easy if you follow these three suggestions. First, learn the rules for your area-what is recyclable and how it is collected. In most cities, glass, paper, aluminum, and certain types of plastic are recyclable. Buy items that you know can be recycled. For example, if a certain type of plastic is recyclable in your city, buy plastic products that are made only from that type. Second, organize your home so that recycling is easy. For this, you will need different containers to separate the different kinds of recyclables. Third, instead of throwing everything in the trash, find ways to recycle it. For example, look for organizations that will take large appliances to recycle. Also, make a compost of your dead plants and leaves, food waste, and untreated paper to use as a nutrient-rich soil for your garden.
