A group of advanced practice registered nurses who practice at a wound treatment center are investigating the use of a new dressing for chronic venous stasis ulcers. The new dressing is used in conjunction with hyperbaric oxygenation. The company that manufactures the dressing, NOWOUND, is providing all of the supplies needed to the center for the trial. The team receives institutional review board approval for the study and begins to enroll patients. One of the advance practice registered nurses is approached by NOWOUND to be on their speaker's bureau for their other wound care products and accepts. They do not disclose this to the institutional review board or other research team members as the study continues.
