Question: The combined footing shown in Figure is designed as a narrow reinforced concrete beam. The footing has been proportioned so that the resultant of the column loads passes through the centroid of the footing, producing a uniformly distributed soil pressure on the base of the footing. Draw the shear and moment curves for the footing in the longitudinal direction. The width of the footing is controlled by the allowable soil pressure and does not affect the analysis.
