Requirements

The assignment is based on the narrative for the customer order and delivery process of Glens Fresh Food Supplies (GFFS).

Glens Fresh Food Supplies (GFFS) is an online fresh produce market that operates in the South- Eastern suburb of Victoria. Customers can shop online at GFFS for fresh milk, eggs, fruits & vegetables, meat & seafood, organic food and groceries and have their orders delivered to their home.

Anyone who wishes to use GFFS services will have to first apply to use the service. To apply, the potential customer is required to fill in an online application form in GFFS website. GFFS system will assess the application based on some built-in business rules and will either approve or disapprove the application immediately. The system will then send an email to the applicant informing them of the outcome of the application. If approved, the system will generate a welcoming email with a unique username and password. At the same time the system creates a customer record for the new customer.

To enter an order, the customer must log on to the GFFS Web site with their username and password. The system retrieves information from the customer database to confirm that the customer username exists. Once confirmed, the customer can browse the catalogue that is generated from the inventory database. The customer can pick their items and add them to their shopping cart. When finished, the customer proceeds to the checkout screen to authorize the billing amount to be charged to their account. Once the order is submitted, items are allocated in the inventory database, and a new order is recorded in the order database.

At the warehouse, a clerk downloads all the open orders from the order database to the local computer twice a day; once in the morning at 8am and another at 1pm in the afternoon. The computer then generates electronic picking tickets for use in assembling the respective customers' orders. The clerk then assigns the picking tickets to any of the 3 pick-and-pack workers at the warehouse. Each pick-and-pack worker has an iPad with a scanner. They will read the picking list from their iPad screen, picks the goods, and scans each item as it is placed in a box. As each item is scanned, the computer updates the inventory and order databases. When an order is completed, the pick-and-pack worker selects a function on their iPad which prints a barcode on a WiFi-enabled printer. The clerk attaches the barcode to the outside of the box and places the order on a conveyor belt to be sent to the shipping depot.

In the shipping depot, the shipping clerk uses a scanner to read the barcode and access the sales order information from the order database. The items in the box are rechecked per the order and loaded for delivery to the customer. Keying in the confirmation of the order contents by the shipping clerk triggers the printing of delivery directions and receipt. The goods with the delivery directions and receipts are passed on to the delivery team. Upon delivering the groceries and receipt to the customer, the delivery team once again reads the barcode with a handheld device and presses the button for confirmation of delivery. The completion of the delivery is automatically recorded in the order database. The system at this time also updates the customer's master data for billing purposes.

Based on the narrative above, complete the following tasks.

1. Prepare a table of entities and activities.

2. Draw the corresponding context diagram.

3. Draw the appropriate physical data flow diagram (DFD).

4. Prepare an annotated table of entities and activities, including details of the groupings, bubble numbers and bubble titles that you would use in a level 0 logical DFD.
