Case Study For Assignment Project Case Study - Australian Labs
Primer Labs provides lab-testing services for a variety of clients, it offer service to doctors offices as well as other medical centre in Sydney. Clients send test using test vial containing blood sample and other test request to primer Labs. After confirmation of test the results are sent though fax or email to the client.
Business had picked up recently, but turnaround time is getting longer for the clients. Administrator at the lab are not able to give customer answer regarding the time it will take to get their results or any general enquiries related to the test. James Henderson the manger of the Primer Lab had approached your team for help with their Lab out-dated inventory tracking system. Much of their existing process id out-dated based on paper-based inventory tracking system, using hand written labels for each of incoming test vials and logbook entries.
James would like to improve the existing inventory tracking process with more timely and accurate information. They want to use modern databases and information systems to keep the track of customer test results. He would like the lab administrator with accurate status updates of customer and shortening the turnaround time for the Lab test.
These are the estimation after initiation phase of the project. You can use this data for cost benefit analysis and justify the project.

For Project Cost Benefit Analysis assume discount rate to be 9%. Total development cost (one time cost) is $70,000.00. Assume recurring cost to be $30,000.00 per year.
The tasks - Your team will assume a role of consultant to shoulder the system analysis responsibilities for the project as outlined in the case study. Your team will plan and manage the project and investigate the system requirement. You will produce both the report and modelling. Please see the task to be completed as shown below
Task 1 - What system development approach should be used by "Primer Labs", justify your choice of your selected approach.
Task 2 - Identify functional and non-functional requirements for the system to be designed.
Task 3 - Show and discuss your cost benefit analysis and provide excel spread sheet to justify your answer for new system.
Task 4 - Identify stakeholder and justify two-investigation technique that can be used for Primer Labs.
Task 5 - Draw Context and Level 0 data flow diagram depicting all the business process for new system.
Task 6 - Draw ERD for new inventory system for Primer Labs.
You will produce a report that aims to explain your systems analysis results with modelling and need to do your presentation in the class.
