Refrigerant 22 is used in the evaporator pipe of a commercial refrigeration unit. At steady state it flows at a rate of 0.5 kg/s through the pipe of constant diameter. It enters the pipe at -­10C with a velocity of 5 m/s and a quality of 25%. It exits at the same temperature, but as saturated vapor.

(a) Draw a schematic and show the control volume you have selected;

(b) Calculate the diameter of the pipe; and

(c) Calculate the velocity of the refrigerant at the exit of the pipe. Hint: Make use of the correlation between mass flow rate and flow velocity.
