Mapping a Block

Find an interesting block to observe, preferably one with a variety of features such as buildings, open spaces, landscaping, etc. You may define the block based on your initial observation of how the space is laid out. REQUIRED: It is a requirement that you physically observe a block for this assignment and not a block that you can access virtually (such as through Google maps) or from memory.

Without interviewing the people you encounter, describe that block building by building, lot by lot. Don't neglect the alley or spaces that seem unused.

Along with your hand drawn map, paragraph about what you think the block means to different populations of people - does everyone use the block the same or are there differences based on age, gender, occupation, or other social identities?
