COMP 10007.1 System Analysis and Design

Learning Outcome 1: Apply the different tools of structured analysis within a process of systems development

Assignment Objective
This assignment aims to introduce the different phases of design and familiarize the students with structured analysis tools.

Assignment Tasks
For the proposed information system in selected in assignment 1, continue the tasks mentioned below:
1. Draw a Hierarchical input process output (HIPO) chart to represent a high-level view of the functions of the proposed system.

(Note: The chart must include three levels of decomposition- Second level must have minimum two processes. Each function in the second level must be divided into two sub functions in level 3.Take any one function from level two and prepare the Input Process output representation )

Draw the following diagrams to represent the information system chosen in assignment 1
i. Context diagram
The context diagram is expected to have:
• Relevant system name
• Add at least 4 External Entities
• Input and output data flows (minimum 6)
• Followed proper rules

ii. Level 0 DFD (Data Flow Diagram) & Overview

The Level 0 DFD is expected to have:
• Relevant processes (at least 2 processes)
• External entities
• Relevant Data stores (minimum 2 data stores)
• Relevant input & output data flows
• Followed proper rules
• Give a short description of the level 0 diagram

3.
i. Design one input form for the proposed system. Justify how the design is relevant for the proposed system.
ii. Design one output form for the proposed system. Justify how the design is relevant for the proposed system.
