Assume that you are asked to measure 5.60 mL of water with a 10 mL Measuring pipette and that it is to be measured from the bottom up.

i) Draw a diagram of the pipette, showing the appropriate graduations/markings. Draw a meniscus at the graduation to which you would draw up the water and label it 'S' [this indicates how far to 'suck up' the liquid to start the volume measurement]. 

ii) Also draw a meniscus at the graduation to which you would drain the pipette contents and label it 'D' [this indicates how far to 'drain' the liquid so that 5.60 mL would be dispensed].
