1) Use range poles to establish a 2.,Sby 5m grid and determine the magnetic bearings of grid lines.

2) Carry out a 3rd order vertical control survey to establish grid levels. Given RL, of PM 732 is 113A-11,4 100

3) Calculate and tabulate the adjusted reduced levels for all grid nodes.

4) Plot the grids, noting the spot height at each grid node and draw contours (0.1m contour interval).

5) Draw a diagonal line across the contours and plot a longitudinal section (profile) of the area in question.

6) The area is to be excavated to a formation level of 90 in order to construct a multistorey building. The sides of excavation are to be vertical. Compute the volume of earthwork to be excavated.
