Spangle General Hospital
Spangle General Hospital needs a new IT system to track patients and and billing in their outpatient clinic. This is what they have told us:
A patient is a person who comes to us for medical consultation. When they first enter the clinic, we collect information on them, concerning their personal data (name, address, next of kin, etc). We also issue them a hospital card, renewed every year, that gives them a patient ID and records their status and vital health information. When a patient desires a consultation on an illness, we make an appointment for them on this system with any available doctor/nurse team. Since we only diagnose and deal with simple ailments at this clinic, we charge a flat $100 per visit. If a patient is found to have a more serious illness, they are referred to a hospital in Spokane, at which point we stop tracking them on this system. A patient is required to have either an insurance policy or a credit card (and usually has both). At the end of each month, we generate a bill and send it to the insurance company or to the patient.
Assignment
Draw the CD for the system. Assume the secretary inputs all data.
Draw a 3rd Normal ERD for the system.
One possible use of the system is to enter a patient appointment. Draw the Use Case Diagram, and list possible events associated with it.
Draw the DFD associated with the process defined in the Use Case in item 4.
Another use of the system is to list all appointments for a specific medical person. Draw the DFD associated with that process.
Another use of the system is to create and print out a bill for a treatment. Assume that materials and medicines are handled by a different system, we only track the services. Draw the DFD for that process.
